GrowthZone Custom Template

Have you ever wanted to add a message to the Top of a page? How about specific Instructions for your Member Application?

This will explain how to add this content to a Module or a Specific Module Page.

Create the Template Page

A) Create a new page on your site. Whether via a CMS or a desktop program, create a page, the same way you’d create any other interior page on the site. Give the page a name of "GrowthZone Template #growthzone_heading#". You’ll know why it’s called that when you view your module pages. The #growthzone_heading# removes the title and replaces with the title of the module page the user is viewing.
If you have a GrowthZone CMS WordPress site, the default Template Page is already created. Please skip to step 2C.

B) In the main content area of the page, drop in the text (not including the apostrophes): “#GROWTHZONE_CONTENT#”, then save the page.

C) Note the URL of the page. It could look like, but is not limited to, any of the following:

Example URLS
  • http://www.mydomain.com/growthzone-template-directory/
  • http://www.mydomain.com/pages/growthzonetemplateevents
  • http://www.mydomain.com/growthzone_template_memberApplication.php
  • http://www.mydomain.com/growthzone_template_events.html

D) The page should look something like this.

E) Although we want this page to be ‘published’ (available for viewing by the browser and search engines), you will want to be sure that it’s not included in your site’s navigation. Most CMS will allow you to publish a page while excluding it in the site navigation. This will need to be done in order so that visitors do not access this page directly.

F) Congratulations! You’ve just created the GrowthZone “Template” Page. This page will serve as a “wrapper” for your GrowthZone pages/modules. We now need to tell the server to wrap your specific module with this template.

Add the Template to the database

A) Log into the database and go to Setup > GrowthZone Pages

B) Find the Sub-domain you want to create the template for and click on the number under the Template Column and it should open a new window for you.

C) Click the Orange + in the top right of the window

  • The Name is whatever you want but it can be useful to name it based on what it will be used for such as Events.
  • The External URL should be the URL of the template page you just created.
  • The Template content will auto fill with the proper content if you are using the External URL

D) Click Done and Close

H) Congratulations you should now have a custom template created.
